2 accused of trying to steal from Home Depot
Two men face grand theft charges after authorities say they tried to bilk the Home Depot in Spring Hill out of $1,300 in merchandise.
According to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report, the men bought a cabinet and flooring material from the store at 4765 Commercial Way on May 1. They took the merchandise to their vehicle and drove away. Minutes later, they went back to the store, picked out identical merchandise and told store employees that it was the cabinet and flooring they had previously bought. They showed the employees their receipt. The workers believed them, and the men said they would come back and pick up their purchase later.
The plan would have worked, except that the men -- Domenic Manicadelli, 42, and Camale Naghavie, 36, both of Ontario, Canada -- were arrested the next day by Hillsborough County authorities on charges involving several other scams in the Tampa area. Both admitted to planning to take the duplicate items from the Spring Hill store without paying for them, the sheriff's report said.
