The opening of a play at the Citrus County Art League and a free concert by a local guitar virtuoso are among the highlights of entertainment this weekend.
A Thousand Clowns, a romantic drama, runs weekends through May 27 at the Citrus County Art League, 2644 N Annapolis Ave., Hernando. The story is about a former children's television writer who has to come to terms with social workers investigating the way he is raising his 12-year-old nephew. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. today and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $9 at the door. Call 746-7606.
Inverness resident Richard Gilewitz, who spends most of his time touring the country, performing and giving guitar clinics for performance equipment manufacturer Peavey Electronics, will be at Crystal River Music, 2525 N Turkey Oaks Drive, at 2 p.m. today.
Gilewitz will perform music from his three CD releases and then follow with a guitar clinic in a question and answer format. He will also have his new instruction video for fingerstyle guitar for sale. Admission is free, and there will be product giveaways.

ROCK FOR ALZHEIMER'S: The Rock 'n' Roll Rally To Remember, a fundraiser for the Citrus County Alzheimer's Family Organization, is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Nature Coast Lodge, 279 N Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills. Food and entertainment included. Call 527-9720.
AQUASCAPES TOUR: Nature Coast Aquascape will sponsor a water garden tour today and Sunday to benefit at Boggy Creek Gang Camp near Umatilla. The camp's mission is to enrich the lives of children who have chronic or life-threatening illnesses by through memorable camping experiences. It is the only year round camping center in the Southeast with a full time medical director. The self-guided water garden tour will showcase nine of Citrus County's best water gardens. Tour maps are available at Anson's Nursery, County Road 401, Lecanto; Color Country Nursery on State Road 44, Lecanto; Crystal River and Nature Coast Aquascape on U.S. 41, Floral City. Cost is $10. ITALIAN STREET FESTIVAL: A street festival in front of the Little Italy Deli, 214 N Apopka Ave., Inverness, will feature Italian food and live music from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday. The section of Apopka in front of the deli will be closed for the event, and tables will be set up on the sidewalk and street for diners. Alfredo Cali and Rosario Cali will sing Italian folk songs and some classical music. Call 726-5044. CLASSIC CARS: The 13th annual '50s Night Classic Car Show and Reunion sponsored by the Spring Hill Cruisers will be from 4 to 10 p.m. today at Hardee's restaurant at U.S. 19 and State Road 50 in Weeki Wachee.
