Finley (3-2, 4.36) originally was supposed to start Friday night's game, but was scratched with a sore neck. He is 5-0 lifetime against the Rays, including a victory on Sunday at Tropicana Field.
Manager Hal McRae spent the past four years on the same Phillies coaching staff as John Vukovich, who had brain surgery this week. The operation to remove a benign mass was successful and Vukovich is expected to be back in uniform in two or three weeks. McRae's wife sent a card to Vukovich in Philadelphia and the manager expects to give his former co-worker a call in a couple of weeks. "He knows everybody, so I'm sure he's already hearing from a lot of people," McRae said. "I'll call him when things settle down."
