Gov. Jeb Bush on Friday appointed Laura Branker as acting secretary for the Agency for Health Care Administration.
Branker, 34, who had been the AHCA's director of interagency operations, will serve as acting secretary until a permanent replacement for Ruben King-Shaw Jr. is named later this summer, according to a Bush spokeswoman.
King-Shaw, who had been secretary of the health care agency since 1999, was appointed by President Bush as the new chief operating officer of the Health Care Financing Administration in Washington, the agency that administers Medicare, Medicaid and other health care programs.
