Police reportsBy Times staff reports © St. Petersburg Times, published May 13, 2001 18 arrested in drug sweep in Zephyrhills, Dade CityPasco County sheriff's deputies on Friday concluded a three-day, street-level drug sweep in Zephyrhills and Dade City. They arrested 18 people on 54 charges, spokesman Jon Powers said. They were still looking Saturday for 16 more people. The charges against those arrested were:
Several suspects also were arrested on warrants related to other charges. Most had sold drugs earlier this year to a Sheriff's Office informant. Man charged after wife falls, breaks hipHUDSON -- A 73-year-old man was arrested Friday after his wife of almost 50 years suffered a broken hip during an argument, Pasco County sheriff's deputies said. Robert Albert McCanlis of 8850 Thoreau Drive was charged with crimes against the elderly/aggravated assault, deputies said. About 9:30 a.m. the couple began arguing in the kitchen, deputies said. The wife walked away to her bedroom, but McCanlis followed her. He raised his fist and said, "You're not going to do this to me." She thought he was going to hit her, tried to get away and fell to the ground, breaking her hip, deputies said. McCanlis posted $5,000 bond and was released Saturday morning from county jail in Land O'Lakes.
