Focus on volunteers

Boyd Hill Nature Park, 1101 Country Club Way S, St. Petersburg, needs volunteers at 10 a.m. Saturday to help with the annual butterfly count that is coordinated by the North American Butterfly Association. This is the fifth year the park will participate in the one-day count that takes place each spring across the continent. For information, call 893-7326.

The Juvenile Welfare Board needs Pinellas County residents interested in children, youth and families to serve on one of three community councils. Members of the councils meet monthly to gather and distribute information, list community needs and trends, evaluate issues on families and neighborhoods, monitor community initiatives and make recommendations to the Juvenile Welfare Board. High school and college students are encouraged to apply. For information, call Dorthy Whitlock at 547-5638.

Neighborly Senior Services is in need of volunteers for its Meals on Wheels program. Volunteers would deliver meals to senior citizens throughout Pinellas County. For information, call Neighborly Senior Services at 573-9444.

The Science Center of Pinellas County, 7701 22nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg, needs volunteer docents to give tours of its 16th-century Indian Village. Docents will receive training. For information, call Cindy Paquin at 384-0027.

The St. Petersburg Branch of the American Red Cross needs drivers to transport elderly residents to medical appointments. Volunteers work one day per week from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information, call the American Red Cross at 898-3111.
