Saturday expo to emphasize safe boating

ST. PETERSBURG -- Coast Guard Group St. Petersburg will host a Base Open House and Safe Boating Week Expo from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The open house will coincide with the Spring Boat Show at the Bayfront Arena. The Coast Guard Group is at 600 Eighth Ave. SE, across from Albert Whitted Airport and down the street from the St. Petersburg Times Bayfront Arena.

Free shuttles between the boat show and the Safe Boating Week Expo will be provided.

Admission is free. Events at the expo include search and rescue demonstrations, helicopter demonstrations at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., personal watercraft demonstrations, and displays about safe boating.
