SRCS STUDENT WINS SCHOLARSHIP: Cristina Moreno, an 18-year-old senior from Seven Rivers Christian School, has been awarded the Goizueta Foundation Scholarship for Hispanic students from Coca Cola.

Cristina came to Citrus County six years ago from Miami with her mother, Aida Mareno-Ramirez, and stepfather, Rafael Ramirez, and attended Central Catholic School of Citrus County (now known as Pope John Paul II Catholic School), Lecanto High School and Seven Rivers for the last 21/2 years.

At Seven Rivers, Cristina has been student council treasurer and on the yearbook staff, and she was voted most school-spirited.

She will use the $10,000 scholarship at Saint Leo University to study child psychology.

FOURTH- AND FIFTH-GRADE MATH FIELD DAY RESULTS: Math Field Day was held May 5 at Crystal River High School for Citrus County elementary school students. These are the winning teams.

Fifth-grade project: First place -- Rock Crusher Elementary School: Jesus Galorza, Michael Marando; Second place -- Pope John Paul II Catholic School: Richard Carter, Elyse Cadera, Erin Straight, Josh Rowe; Third place -- Pleasant Grove Elementary School: Laura Bourbon, Steven May, Chelsea Long, Jennifer Minnella; Honorable Mention -- Crystal River Primary School: Bethany Vara, Kevin Humphrey, Brittany Handley, Jimmy Page.

Fifth-grade math: First place -- Seven Rivers Christian School: Christopher Brown, Kenzie Rowda, Claire Rosebrough, Bryan Roberts. Second place (tie) -- Lecanto Primary School: Amy Guffer, Lacey Mangelsen, Chris Barclay, T.C. Warner; Crystal River Primary: William Tomlinson, Waunee Lester, Salena Roberts, Joshua Clark; Forest Ridge Elementary School: Sonia Shek, Chris Muzzi, Tasha Pinney, Kate Tyler; and Inverness Primary School: Heatherann Tenowich, Kyle Mast, Parker Longacre; Third place -- Floral City Elementary School: A.J. Meahl, Ryan Miranda, Joey Neill, Craig Augustine; Honorable Mention -- Pleasant Grove Elementary School: Danyella Bonello, Tim Brandon, Jesse Hall, Alex Stanley.

Fourth-grade project: First place -- Pope John Paul II Catholic School: Haley Lanier, Missy Patrick, Michelle Canete, Elizabeth Austin.

Fourth-grade math: First place -- Floral City Elementary School: Michael Pooney, Andy Rouse, Lexton Steed, Steven Fleisher; Second place -- Forest Ridge Elementary School: Carey Clayson, Kyrk Counsil, Shay Barnes, Sondra Brow; Third place -- Pleasant Grove Elementary School: Krissy DeSomma, Joseph Estep, Cristina Tremante, Aaron Mederos; Honorable Mention -- Hernando Elementary School: Shakti Patel, T.J.
