1. Chopper -- Fact-based tale of a ruthless career criminal Down Under featuring an incendiary performance by Eric Bana in the title role.
2. Memento -- Ordinary murder mystery becomes something special since the story is told backward. Clever technique makes this limited-run film worth seeking out.
3. Angel Eyes -- Jennifer Lopez drops the diva routine for a strong performance as a depressed cop figuring out a mysterious "guardian angel" (Jim Caviezel).
4. A Knight's Tale -- Forget The Mummy Returns and Driven. The coolest kickoff to the summer movie season is this anachronistic collision of rock 'n' roll and medieval history.
5. Shrek -- A lovable ogre (voice of Mike Myers) rescues a princess (Cameron Diaz) and movie plans for families in DreamWorks' animated trifle.
