TARPON SPRINGS -- Tarpon Springs police arrested a local man Wednesday on drug-related charges. George Polomchak, 44, of 210 N Levis Ave., was arrested at his home shortly after midnight, Sgt. Allen MacKenzie said. The investigation began April 11 and led police to Hillsborough and Pasco counties. Polomchak is charged with trafficking in cocaine, felony possession of 330 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of controlled substances, possession of paraphernalia and child abuse for smoking a cocaine-laced marijuana cigarette in the presence of a teenager. Polomchak was taken to Pinellas County Jail. Bail was set at $55,500.
Clearwater police are looking for this man, who is wanted in connection with a holdup Wednesday at the First Union at 2140 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. This photo is taken from a surveillance camera at the bank. The man went into the bank at 10:15 a.m., gave a teller a note demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured and no weapon was seen. He was described as 5-feet-5 and in his mid-30s. He was wearing a tank top, khaki pants and sneakers. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Dan Slaughter, 562-4316.
