PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION: The first solo exhibition of Claudia M. Sanchez will be displayed at Centre Gallery in the Phyllis P. Marshall Center at the University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave. The photography exhibition "(Un)focused" features intimate body portraits and will run through May 31. ROTARY CLUB: The New Tampa Rotary Club will host its weekly breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. in the Palms Room at the Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd. Guest speaker Marian Booker will discuss Oriental medicine. LAW WEEK 2001: In celebration of Law Week 2001, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will display law enforcement exhibits today through Sunday in University Mall, 2200 E Fowler Ave. Displays will include the dive team, DUI unit with crash dummies, crime prevention, bomb team, marine unit and canine demonstrations. Anyone 18 or older may test their skills in the "Shoot/Don't Shoot Decision Room," a firearms simulator. RAGGS Kid's Club members (free for kids ages 10 and under) can meet the club's mascot RAGGS and his pal, McGruff, and get fingerprinted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. SOAP BOX DERBY: The 2001 Tampa Bay Soap Box Derby begins at 8 a.m. on Sycamore Street near the Sun Dome at the University of South Florida. Drivers ages 9 to 16 will race soap box stock cars in the downhill gravity-powered competition. The winner of the co-ed competition will go to Akron, Ohio, in July to compete in the national finals. The event, conducted by the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce, is sponsored by the Hillsborough and Pinellas Goodyear Dealers. Spectators welcome. For information, call Tony at (813) 207-2010.

MULTIFAMILY YARD SALE: The Booster Club of Independent Day School, 12015 Orange Grove Drive, will sponsor a multifamily yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon. Toys, clothes and household goods and refreshments will be for sale. Proceeds will benefit the school's athletic programs. For information, call (813) 961-3087.

ACLU TOWN HALL MEETING: The Greater Tampa Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union will hold a town hall meeting at 10 a.m. at the University Area Community Development Center, 14013 N 22nd St. Ex-felons will receive step-by-step instructions, required forms and information on how to regain their voting rights. There will be a panel discussion on the issue of restoring voting rights. Panelists will include Hillsborough Elections Supervisor Pam Iorio, state Rep. Arthenia Joyner; ACLU state legal director Randall Marshall; Leon Russell, president of Floridians Representing Equity and Equality (FREE); and members of the Brothers of the Same Mind, a Miami-based organization that helps former inmates reintegrate into society. BINGO GAMES: The Plantation Boys and Girls Club will host bingo games starting at 7 p.m. at the Plantation Clubhouse at the Gunn Highway entrance to the Plantation subdivision. The event is open to the public. For information, call (813) 969-3991.

HIV/AIDS CLASS: The University of South Florida is offering the class HIV/AIDS 104 from 10 a.m. to noon. The class meets the licensing requirements for many professions including cosmetologists, home health aids, nursing aids and teaching professionals. The class will be held in the Westside Conference Center D at the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Institute, behind the College of Public Health on Bruce B Downs Boulevard. LADY LUTZ PAGEANT: Lutz ladies with talent, spunk and character are being sought by Classy Consignment to participate in the Lady Lutz Pageant scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. June 24. The application fee is $5; today is the deadline. Applications are available at Classy Consignments in Sunset Plaza. The pageant is open to women ages 18 to 88 who live or work in Lutz. Contestants will compete in three events: Sporty, Self-Created Outfit; Talent and the Afternoon Gown. Items for the silent auction and advertisers for the event program are needed. WALK FOR AWARENESS: Residents of Westchase are encouraged to participate in the "Walk for Awareness" that will begin at 8 a.m. at Glencliff Park on Countryway Boulevard. The 5K walk will continue down Linebaugh Avenue to Baybridge Park. Registration fee is $15. Proceeds will benefit the Children's Melanoma Awareness Foundation. Looking ahead

YOUTH SUMMER CAMP: Club Tampa Palms, 16402 Tampa Palms Blvd., is taking registration for its Youth Summer Camp, which will run from June 4 through Aug. 3. Camp sessions will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays for children 5-12. Before- and after-camp child care is available. Cost is $100 for members, $110 for non-members. PUBLIC MEETING: Hillsborough County staff will hold a public meeting concerning traffic problems along Old Saybrook Avenue in Carrollwood. The traffic problem is between existing speed humps from Casey Road to its end, near the intersection of Casey Road and Gunn Highway. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. May 29 in the cafeteria at Essrig Elementary School, 13131 Lynn Road. A recommendation to county commissioners on solving this problem will be based on this meeting which is part of the county's Residential Traffic Control Program.
