Officer Richard Clemens told deputies he was in a pursuit with the black truck about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The truck had turned off of U.S. 301 and headed east on Mickler Road. As both vehicles turned onto Mickler Road, the man stopped the truck, put it in reverse and intentionally backed into Clemens' patrol car, a sheriff's report stated. Clemens said the truck's tailgate was down, and it damaged the grill of his car. Clemens was not injured. After the collision, the suspect fled and the chase continued. Deputies confiscated the truck, but the suspect fled and wasn't found.
