Rising stars come out

Paul Anka hosts a variety show of rising stars, "Showtime on the Waterfront," at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Bayfront Center's Mahaffey Theater for the Performing Arts in St. Petersburg.

The show features all-female trio Mpress, the Hazies, comedian Charlie "The Spoonman" Sciandra, virtuoso pianist Michael Sean, the Cheryl Lee Studio of Dance's "Showstoppers," contemporary illusionist/magician Dan Johnson, pop singer Jessilyn Polo, rap trio Filo, and singers Kristi Van Natter, Emilee Dupree and Lynn Vela.
