ZEPHYRHILLS -- A driver delivering a load of asphalt to Zephyrhills Correctional Institute was arrested Wednesday after prison guards found a handgun and marijuana in the man's truck, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
The driver, Donnie Ray Wilson, 38, of Tampa said he knew prison regulations prohibited drugs and weapons on the grounds, but he told deputies he thought the rules were a joke, according to reports.
Wilson also said his employer, Roe Buck Hauling, had warned him not to bring drugs and weapons to the prison when making deliveries.
Charged with introducing firearms and drugs to a correctional facility, Wilson was booked into the Pasco County Jail in Land O'Lakes with bail set at $20,000.
