ST. PETE BEACH -- Two city parks are poised to receive state grant funding for new playground equipment and other amenities.
Lazarillo Park in the Don CeSar Place neighborhood of St. Pete Beach and Blind Pass Park on the north end of the city will receive $150,000 each for improvements if Gov. Jeb Bush signs the budget passed by the Legislature.
New playground equipment would be installed, as well as fencing for the playgrounds and decorative lighting.
At Lazarillo Park, the tennis courts would be resurfaced, and the tennis court fencing replaced.
The city must pay 25 percent of the cost of the project, or $37,500 for each park, under the terms of the Florida Recreational Development Assistance Program. The state will contribute $112,500 for each, for a total of $225,000 in grant funding.
