Deputies make arrests in construction thefts

SPRING HILL -- Two Spring Hill men were arrested early Sunday morning in connection with a string of construction site thefts.

Between March 23 and May 20, Jeffery George Sherlock, 34, of 12090 Topaz St., and Michael G. Parrott, 38, 1447 Whitewood Ave., stole appliances and construction material from at least eight Hernando County construction sites, sheriff's officials say.

Sherlock, a carpet installer, and Parrott, a laborer, each were charged with eight counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, according to a report from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Sherlock was also charged with grand theft and driving with a suspended license and had two outstanding Hernando County warrants on grand theft and battery charges.

Sherlock being held at Hernando County Jail on Sunday with bail set at $17,750.

Parrott was released from jail on $15,000 bail.

Commission to meet Hill 'n Dale residents

BROOKSVILLE -- The Hernando County Commission will meet with residents of the Hill 'n Dale subdivision at 7 p.m. May 31 in the Eastside Elementary School cafeteria, 27151 Roper Road. The meeting is in response to an invitation from the Hill 'n Dale Crime Watch to discuss various issues of community interest.

The gathering is a continuation of a series of community meetings with the commission. The public is invited to attend and bring up issues of concern.

County administrator to be host of call-in show

Hernando County Administrator Paul McIntosh will be host of a live call-in show, Issues and Answers, at 7 p.m. Thursday on the county government cable channel (Channel 19 for Time Warner customers and Channel 6 for Constel customers).

Viewers may call in with questions to be addressed by McIntosh and his guests: Emergency Management Director Bill Appleby, Sheriff Richard Nugent and Mike Nickerson of the Hernando County Fire Rescue District.
