Video gamesBy ROBB GUIDO © St. Petersburg Times, published May 21, 2001 Rumble RacingSYSTEM: PlayStation 2 MAKER: EAGames PRICE: $49.99 Rumble Racing is fun because it throws the rules out the window. Cars can flip and do stunts in the air, the vehicle designs are super cool, but there's not much depth here. And it's much more fun with two players. Grade: B Mario Party 3SYSTEM: Nintendo 64 MAKER: Nintendo PRICE: $49.99 After three installments, the cheery board-game game known as Mario Party hasn't gotten old, thanks to 70 new mini-games. It's best played with four people. Grade: A- The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of SeasonsSYSTEM: Game Boy Color MAKER: Nintendo PRICE: $34.99 Oracle of Seasons, one of two new Zeldas, possesses much of the magic that made previous Zelda games so great. This adventure lets players control the seasons in order to unlock secrets. Owning the other new Zelda isn't necessary, but by playing the other game, players can learn passwords or collect items, which can be used in Oracle of Seasons. Grade: A The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of AgesSYSTEM: Game Boy Color MAKER: Nintendo PRICE: $34.99 The second of two new Zelda games is completely different from the first, though some of the same characters pop up in both. This Zelda focuses on time travel and song learning like Zelda games before it, with equally clever results. Grade: A MLB 2002SYSTEM: PlayStation MAKER: 989 Sports PRICE: $39.99 MLB for PlayStation lacks the thrill of a real baseball game -- a good baseball game that is -- and dated graphics don't help. It's loaded with options for those who can stand its dearth of excitement. Grade: C Gauntlet: Dark LegacySYSTEM: PlayStation 2 MAKER: Midway PRICE: $49.99 Warning: Gauntlet is fun only with three or four players. That being said, PS2 owners who loved the arcade game should run out and buy Dark Legacy, as well as a MultiTap and extra controllers. Grade: B - Robb Guido is an avid gamer who lives in Tampa.
