Following USF golfer Kelly LagedrostBy BRANT JAMES © St. Petersburg Times, published May 23, 2001 FINAL SWING: Lagedrost is competing in the NCAA Tournament. HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS: Lagedrost, a former state champion at Hernando High School, shot an 8-over 80 to finish tied for 93rd after one day of the tournament at Mission Inn. As many as 126 players competed in Tuesday's first of four rounds. UCLA's Laura Moffat captured the lead with a 3-under 69. Lagedrost, playing in the final threesome, got into trouble by bogeying six holes on her first nine (four of the last five) to go 5-over. She birdied two holes around an hour rain delay and finished the second nine 3-over despite bogeying her last three holes. Lagedrost was third best for USF, which ended the day 22nd out of 24 teams.
