Four men arrested over stolen equipment

NEW PORT RICHEY -- Four men were arrested early last week after $30,000 worth of computer equipment was stolen from a realty office in an effort to raise money for a friend's jail bond, Pasco sheriff's deputies said.

Steven McKimm, 19, of 3620 Elfers Parkway, and Michael Herrera, 18, of 5025 Brookside Drive, both of New Port Richey, along with two 17-year-old males, were charged with grand theft for taking numerous computers, printers, scanners and copy machines from the Century 21 office at 4208 Little Road in New Port Richey. The four wanted to sell the items for cash to bail a friend out of jail, according to a deputy's report.

The two juveniles, apprehended May 15 by Pasco sheriff's deputies, were processed at the Juvenile Assessment Center. The juveniles's names are being withheld because of their ages. McKimm and Herrera were held Tuesday at the county jail in Land O'Lakes in lieu of $11,500 and $34,000 bails, respectively.

Deputies recovered $20,000 worth of the stolen office equipment.

Second man charged in party beating

NEW PORT RICHEY -- Police arrested a second man in connection with a May 13 beating that left another man hospitalized with brain damage.

Gregory Michael Crossman, 20, of 5124 Overton Drive, New Port Richey, was charged Monday with aggravated battery and robbery. He was held Tuesday at the county jail in Land O'Lakes in lieu of $40,000 bail.

New Port Richey Police said Nicholas Whytsell punched Steven Caron during a party on Missouri Avenue, and then Crossman punched him, also.

Crossman's punch caused Caron to fall out the front door and down some steps, striking his head on a concrete sidewalk, police said.

Caron was treated for brain damage at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, according to police, and now that he is out of the hospital, will require speech and physical therapy.
