We recently held our semiannual used book sale at the Central Ridge Library which was extremely successful. The proceeds raised by our non-profit organization enabled us to make a generous donation to our library toward the purchase of additional books and materials.
Patrons expressed their appreciation that we included extended afternoon hours, and had evening hours on Wednesday and Thursday.
Special thanks go to the many people in our community who donated a wide variety of books; to the many dedicated volunteers who helped classify and staff the book sales; and to the valued patrons and their enthusiastic response during the days of the sale.
The Friends are also grateful to the St. Petersburg Times for its timely publication of the articles pertaining to our book sale dates. This publicity increased exposure and, in turn, strengthened sales.

When we remember Dot Hornig, we think about a good friend. We remember how she volunteered so unselfishly with the Center For Independent Living.
She was with us from the beginning when the center was only a dream. Dot was actively involved in all out fundraising events. She always came up with good ideas and ways to accomplish a task without making it seem like work.
Dot was the nucleus that our comraderie revolved around. Whether it was selling tickets, working in her production of the CIL Cookbook, or communicating with our deaf consumers, Dot always had a smile on her face and a warm hug for everyone.
The Homosassa CIL staff, consumers and volunteers wish to express our deepest condolences to Dot's husband, Bob, and her family. She was part of our family, too, and we will never forget her.
