BROOKSVILLE -- State regulators have formally dismissed the last of a series of complaints against Grant Tolbert, Hernando County's development director, according to Tolbert's lawyer, Bruce Snow.
Snow told county commissioners on Tuesday that the remainder of roughly 17 complaints alleging Tolbert had improperly enforced building codes have been formally dismissed.
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation moved to dismiss the final complaint in January, and Snow said Tuesday's announcement signaled an end to the process.
"The paperwork on the very last one has now been filed," he said. "A yellow ribbon has been tied around the package to conclude everything."
During the past few years, Tolbert has faced several complaints about his professionalism, but one by one, the cases have been tossed out.
On Tuesday, Tolbert said he felt vindicated.
"This has been a long, arduous journey," he said. "I've always said that if we had a chance to go through the process, that we would prevail."
