U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Gregory S. Upperman, grandson of Mary and Earl Upperman of St. Petersburg, was commissioned in March at Quantico, Va. After receiving additional training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., he will be stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Gregory S. Upperman, grandson of Mary and Earl Upperman of St. Petersburg, was commissioned in March at Quantico, Va. After receiving additional training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., he will be stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Upperman is a 2000 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Va.

Navy Lt. Julie A. Lundstad, a 1984 graduate of Northeast High School, has reported for duty at Naval Hospital Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Air Force Capt. Peter A. Selkey Jr., son of Betsy and Peter A. Selkey Sr. of St. Petersburg, was promoted to his present rank while assigned as a flight instructor at Laughlin Air Force Base, Del Rio, Texas.

After his tour of duty, he will be reassigned to Quantico, Va., as an artillery instructor.

Selkey is a 1992 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.
