An anonymous bomb threat Wednesday morning resulted in an evacuation of courthouses across Pasco County.
Somebody called the switchboard in New Port Richey around 10:50 a.m. and said there was a bomb in the courthouse, said Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jon Powers. The caller didn't specify which courthouse.
As a precaution, police and sheriff's deputies cleared out courthouses and administration buildings across the county.
The courthouse and government center in New Port Richey was evacuated. Dade City police also evacuated the new courthouse and administration buildings, as well as the historic courthouse on Meridian Avenue.
"I'd rather err on the side of safety," said Dade City police Capt. David Duff.
Investigators at each of the sites found no evidence of a bomb, and workers were allowed back in shortly after the search.
