Man faces charge of molesting girl

ZEPHYRHILLS -- A 41-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on charges of molesting a 14-year-old girl.

Larry Caleb Smith, of 7549 Land Drive, allegedly had various sexual encounters with the girl over a recent three-month period.

The girl told deputies that Smith had fondled her numerous times. She also said he had her perform sex acts on him, a report stated.

Smith was charged with lewd and lascivious acts. He was taken to Land O'Lakes jail, where he remained Wednesday in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Student, 13, charged with bringing weapon to school

NEW PORT RICHEY -- A 13-year-old Gulf Middle School student was charged Monday with possession of a weapon on school property, police said.

The girl, whose name is being withheld because she is a minor, is the fourth Pasco student in the past week to be charged with a weapons violation.

According to New Port Richey police, the girl brought a cigarette lighter to school that had a retractable knife attached to it.

The girl told authorities that she placed the device in the wrong purse and accidentally brought it to school. She was processed at the juvenile assessment center.
