NEW IN TOWN

Beachgoers get new takeout and Asian fans get a broader menu.

Italian favorite Carino's will open a deli and catering shop (6700 Gulf Blvd, St. Pete Beach; (727) 368-0081).

New Grapevine (6305 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach; (727) 368-0251) combines a fruit stand and deli. It sells sandwiches, imported goods and Greek pastry, and you can sit among the produce.

SoHo gets Albert's Asian Bistro (301 S Howard Ave., Tampa; (813) 251-1191), a spinoff from Oceanic Oriental Supermarket. That venerable source of Chinese foods and imports gets a sleek club with a broad pan-Asian menu.

Island Way Grill, Clearwater Beach's own Salt Rock, has opened after a six-month revamp of the former Flagship. The menu at the grill (20 Island Way, Clearwater; (727) 461-6617) covers sushi, Pacific Northwest and island fare.

OUTTAHERE

Fans of St. Pete Beach's Brunello, which gave Pinellas its first contemporary Italian, have no replacement yet. Owner Paul Corraza will sell and relocate to Pacific Northwest wine country "somewhere between the Okanagan Valley and the Willamette Valley."
