A trip down Memory Lane

Memorial Day, a somber remembrance of the men and women who perished in service to our nation, nonetheless is widely regarded as the unofficial start of summer. (Fashionistas, take note: The white shoes can come out now.) We found an astonishing array of ideas for capturing cherished moments.

Scrapbooks look more sophisticated now, thanks to special tools. Paper punches in various designs (about $6 each) give dimensions to the page or make room for lacing through a ribbon border. Edgers (about $5 each) decorate the sides of the pages. Use photo corners ($3.39 for 240) to attach favorite pictures and acid-free glue (about $3) to paste in memorabilia such as concert tickets. Printed papers (up to $1.50 per page) reflect the collector's interests. We found brag books in iMac colors and plastic flip books (99 cents each) for showing off memories of your latest party or trip. All items available at mass market stores such as Jo-Ann's Fabric & Crafts, Michael's and specialty stores such as Creation Station, 2995 Tyrone Blvd. N, St. Petersburg (727) 345-3020.
