CURTAIN CALLS

PLAYHOUSE 19: Auditions for the Playhouse 19 Summer Theatre Project for youths age 14 to 18, will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the theater. Bring sheet music, accompanist will be provided. Singers may also use an instrumental cassette tape or compact disc. Also required is a memorized monologue no longer than two minutes. Persons interested in learning about light design, makeup, set painting and stage managing are encouraged to participate in the Summer Theatre Project. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m weekdays from July 9-20. At the end of the workshop, the musical Godspell will be performed July 20-22 and 26-29. Performances are at 7 p.m., except for Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for children under 12 and students with a student ID pay $5. Call 563-1333.

STAGE WEST: Stage West Community Playhouse will hold auditions for Three Murders and It's Only Monday at 7 p.m. June 8 and 1 p.m. June 9 at the theater, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Parts are available for five men and four women ages 20 to 60. Production dates are Thursdays and weekends Sept. 6-23. Director is Toni Best. For information, call (352) 683-5113.

LOOK AHEAD

IT'S A BLAST: A boat parade and fireworks show are scheduled for June 30 at Homosassa Riverside Resort, 5297 S Cherokee Way, in old Homosassa. Other activities include family events happening throughout the day at local business on the Homosassa River. Call 628-2474.

UNCLE SAM JAM: The Olde Town Association will sponsor the Uncle Sam Jam on July 7 at the Courthouse Square. The event will feature a decorated bicycle parade, two moonwalk booths, carriage rides, patriotic face and nail painting, games, food vendors, a patriotic tribute led by Mayor Joyce Rogers and a street dance to cap off the night.

TRUCK PULL: A truck pull begins at noon June 3 at the Citrus County Fairgrounds. Tickets at the gate are $5 for adults, $3 for ages 6 to 11, 5 and under free. Sales start at 11:30 a.m. There are no advance sales. Seating provided for 400 spectators, but there is extra room for those who bring their own chairs. Call 726-2993. CARVING: The Nature Coast Carving Club meets at 10 a.m. on the first Friday of each month at the Lakes Region Library, 1511 Druid Road, Inverness. Workshops at 1 p.m. Monday at the East Citrus Community Center on State Road 44. Call 382-3957.
