Snook season closesBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published May 26, 2000 Anglers have less than a week to catch and keep snook; the season closes at midnight Wednesday. Snook caught before that time must be not less than 26 inches or more than 34 inches. The limit is two fish per day, per angler. The season is closed during June, July and August because snook are spawning. This also happens to be the time when this species feeds most voraciously. With that in mind, Honeymoon Island State Recreation Area will hold its eighth annual Catch and Release Snook Fishing Tournament from 6-11 a.m. June 3. Registration is $10 through today, then will be $12. There is no charge for children under 12. The park is 6 miles west of U.S. 19 on State Road 586 (Curlew Road). For information, call (727) 469-5942.
