CLEARWATER -- City commissioners will not pursue a new fire fee to help pay for rising fire department costs, according to interim City Manager Bill Horne. "It's a no-go," Horne said Friday. "Nobody wants to go there." City administrators have discussed the issue with commissioners in private, one-on-one meetings the past few weeks. Last fall, city administrators said they would try to persuade the commission this spring to reconsider the fee, which had been criticized and rejected when first proposed two years ago.
