By Times staff writer

© St. Petersburg Times, published May 27, 2001

This special section is designed to help you prepare for the 2001 hurricane season that runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.

This season, William M. Gray, a professor at Colorado State University, is predicting 10 tropical storms, with six becoming hurricanes. The National Hurricane Center is predicting a "near normal" year with one or two landfalls in the United States. Should a storm develop, turn to the Times for daily coverage or go online at www.sptimes.com
