Woman's Club is honored againBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published May 28, 2000 For the third time in five years, the Lutz-Land O'Lakes Woman's Club has been named the best club for its size in Florida. The club, with 85 members, was tops among clubs with 50 to 100 members. It is Lutz's busiest civic club. President Nancy Fisher attributed the award to participation by all the club's members and from the support she gets from both communities. Last year, the club was named the state's best women's club regardless of size. This year that award went to a club in Milton, a town in the Panhandle. The honors were awarded in Orlando at the state convention of the Florida Federation of Women's Clubs. The Lutz-Land O'Lakes group was awarded a silver tray, which will be displayed in the trophy case at the Lutz Community Center. The club has donated $3,000 for scholarships for local high school graduates and helps educate women re-entering the work force.
