Volunteers to fix up Crescent Theater

DADE CITY -- Supporters of the Crescent Theater renovation are planning take the first steps toward rehabilitating the old structure Saturday with a volunteer-powered effort to clean up the property.

Community Aging and Retirement Services director Bill Aycrigg said volunteers are planning to add some flowers and paint and cover up the longstanding "for sale" sign at the old building.

The theater, once a hub of Dade City cultural life, is the target of a $955,000 restoration to turn it into a combination senior center and community theater.

Volunteers are welcome from 8 a.m. to noon. To donate paint and supplies or learn more about the effort, callers may contact Aycrigg at (727) 862-9291 or Ginny Solberg at (352) 567-6857.
