Pizza Hut will open by Maximo

ST. PETERSBURG -- A new Pizza Hut restaurant that will seat 50 is under construction at 4598 34th St. S across from Maximo Shopping Center. It is tentatively scheduled to open on Monday.

The new restaurant will offer carryout, delivery and drive-through service.

"It is the only one in the area that will have the new decor," said company spokeswoman Stephanie Feaster from Dallas. The interior will be paneled in wood and decorated with vegetable icons meant to convey the freshness of Pizza Huts' toppings, she said. Many of the existing Pizza Huts are decorated in red, black and white.

Feaster said the new restaurant is owned by the company rather than a franchisee and represents "a very significant investment for us in the St. Petersburg area." She would not, however, reveal the actual cost of the construction project.

The new Pizza Hut will employ 35 to 40 people, Feaster said.
