NEW CFCC CULINARY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAM: Central Florida Community College is offering a new culinary management associate in science degree program. The U.S. Department of Labor says the profession of culinary management is growing faster than average. Opportunities for advancement in the industry are best for those with college degrees in the field.

The program will prepare students for career positions such as general manager, assistant manager, executive chef, kitchen supervisor and sous chef. It will combine classroom and hands-on experience and cover a wide range of topics, including food preparation and nutrition, customer service, garde-manger, personnel management, record keeping, inventory control, and health and safety standards.

ALTERNATIVE CALENDAR: Lecanto Primary School is seeking students to attend school on the alternative calendar schedule. The students will attend school the same number of days as those on the traditional calendar, but their breaks during the year will differ. Students following the alternative calendar attend school in nine-week blocks, followed by three-week breaks. There is a four-week break during the summer. CSMS IMPROVEMENT PLAN: The Citrus Springs Middle School Advisory Enhancement Council continuous improvement plan for the 2001-2002 school year is available for public review.

PGE ENHANCEMENT REVIEW: The Pleasant Grove Elementary 2001-2002 school enhancement plan is available for review in the school office.

FCE ENHANCEMENT REVIEW: Floral City Elementary's 2001-2002 continuous improvement plan is available for review in the school's front office.

CHS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN: The Citrus High School Enhancement Council school improvement plan is available for review on the main counter in the front office.

FRES IMPROVEMENT PLAN: The Forest Ridge Elementary School Advisory Enhancement Council continuous school improvement plan for the 2001-2002 school year is available for review at the school.
