PALM HARBOR -- Auditions for ballet scholarships to study at the Florida Ballet School are scheduled for Saturday at the school at 31912 U.S. 19 in the Twin Lakes shopping center.

Audition times are 1 to 2 p.m. for children 8 to 10; 2 to 3 p.m. for children 11 to 13 and from 3 to 4 p.m. for children 14 and older. The auditions are open to boys and girls. No previous dance experience is necessary. Audition fee is $10 and proper dance attire is required.

For 25 years, the Florida Ballet School has offered scholarships to young dancers. The school is a training ground for the Florida Gulf Coast Ballet Company.

The scholarship is named after the company's founder Beatriz de Paris. In addition to the scholarship program, the Florida Gulf Coast Ballet Company gives two performances a year, finishing the season with an annual production of The Nutcracker. The company also is host to various guest artists during the year.
