From an anniversary card sent by Gertrude Bagen to her husband, Ray, in May 1943.
Like many couples, the Bagens were apart during World War II. She was in their native Brooklyn, N.Y., and he was in North Africa serving in the Navy. On their second anniversary, she sent him this 15-cent Hallmark card. Mrs. Bagen recently found it in a box at her son's house in New York.
The Bagens, who live in South Pasadena, celebrated their 60th anniversary this month. Mrs. Bagen told the Times: "Ray has told me every day of our marriage how much I mean to him. It has been a real love story. And he does NOT want me to go to Reno."
