As water temperatures climb into the upper 80s, different tactics can be used to increase bites. Recently, midday action has been as good as at any other time, but that's about to change during June. In about two weeks, the sun, when at its highest point, will force numerous fish to take a siesta. Expect this through August.
This is a good time to set the alarm clock for early morning. Set up camp at your best fishing spots just before sunrise. For about two hours, fish will feed furiously until heated, then lay low.
The same strategy reversed can be used the last two hours of sundown. Another bite will occur while the sun sets and sometimes will last an hour into darkness. If a sea breeze has taken hold, the bite could get even better.
Not only are these great times to fish, they're more comfortable because conditions are more tolerable.
