Baseball

The Dunedin Blue Jays will play host today to a home run derby that features players from area high schools. The contest begins at 5 p.m. and will be followed by the Jays' 6:30 game against Jupiter.

One senior representative from each school is eligible to compete. Each player will have seven outs in the first round, with the top four advancing to the final. Each participant will have 10 outs in the final.

Tennis

Strings & Things will offer three one-week clinics for juniors this summer at Silverthorn Community Center.

Each Monday-Thursday session will meet 9-10:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sessions are scheduled for June 4-7, June 25-28 and June 23-26. Beginners courses are $55 per week or $16 per day. Advanced beginners to intermediate classes are $70 per week or $21 per day. Call (352) 684-4321 for information.

Soccer

The Hernando Heat Youth Soccer League will have tryouts for competitive teams 6-8 p.m. June 11-14 at Delta Woods Park.

On June 11, the under-9 and under-10 players will try out at the bottom fields. Under-12 and u-14 girls will be on the top fields. On June 12, the under-11 and u-12 players will be on the bottom fields with under-15 and u-16 girls on the top fields.

On June 13, under-13 and u-14 will be on the bottom fields and under-17 and u-18 girls will be on the top. On June 14, under-15 and u-16 will be on the bottom fields, under-17 and u-18 girls on the top.

A general meeting will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Spring Hill Enrichment Center. For information, call (352) 597-2846.
