Personal First, a 4-year-old colt co-owned by Brooksville's Dianne Waldron and her daughter, Leah Killingsworth, drew the sixth post for Saturday's $150,000 James B. Moseley Breeders' Cup Handicap. The race is on the undercard of the Grade II MassCap at Suffolk Downs in Boston.

A son of Personal Hope, out of Rekindling, Personal First has 5 wins, 3 places and 3 shows in 18 career starts, as well as earnings of $358,932. He finished third in his only start this year -- May 19 at Philadelphia Park in the $50,000 Mr. Nickerson Handicap.

Trained by Citrus County's David Paulus and ridden by Jorge Chavez -- who rode Monarchos to victory in the Kentucky Derby -- the colt has been installed as third-favorite at 9-2.

Personal First was Triple Crown nominated and finished second in the Holy Bull Stakes in 2000, but fell out of Derby contention when he followed that with an 11th-place showing in the Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream.

The colt had nearly a seven-month layoff between the Mr. Nickerson and a second-place finish in the Smile Sprint Handicap at Calder Race Course when he suffered an entrapped nerve in a training accident and required surgery.

Eight horses are entered in the Moseley, including 5-2 favorite Max's Pal, trained by Ben Perkins Jr.

HORSE RACING NOTES: The husband-and-wife training team of Randy and Tracy Nunley enjoyed a strong week and became the favorites of some bettors at Delaware Park.

The Nunleys had a good Tuesday, receiving wins from Chinsegut and Won Mugg, both of which are owned by Tracy Nunley's father, John B. Porter of Brooksville.

Chinsegut won a $50,000 maiden claiming event for fillies 3 years and older despite starting as a 12-to-1 choice with Jesus Lopez Castanon aboard. Won Mugg, ridden by Ramon A. Dominguez, captured a $36,000 allowance for colts 3 years and older as an 8-to-1 choice.

The Nunleys also earned a third-place finish Tuesday in a $9,000 maiden claiming race with The Millennium Kid, another of Porter's 3-year-olds.

The Nunleys won a $9,000 claiming race Wednesday at Delaware Park with Soapy's Secretary, a 6-year-old that went off at 10-to-1.

On Monday, the Nunley/Porter combination took second with He Sells Seashells in a $24,000 claimer for horses 4 and older. He went off at 10-to-1.

On Sunday, the Nunleys won a $15,000 claiming race for horses 3 and older with Willawillasaint.
