Ryan Rupe
Rupe (2-4, 7.75) came back from a two-start stopover in the minors in a big way Monday, holding Anaheim to one run and five hits in 61/3 innings. He was 2-3 with a 5.93 ERA in his first six starts. He made three starts against the Mariners in 1999, going 0-2 with a 6.11 ERA.
Abbott, 33, is a survivor. Last season was his 16th in pro ball and the first he spent exclusively in the major leagues. He must be doing something right this season, posting a 3-2 record despite a 5.67 ERA in six starts. He is 2-0 with a 3.55 ERA in five games against the Rays.
