CLEARWATER -- Terri Schiavo's parents are asking that a judge who ordered doctors to resume feeding her in April remain on the case even though he is soon moving to a different court division.
In motions filed Friday, Bob and Mary Schindler, also asked that the court not allow Mrs. Schiavo to die because she is a "material witness" in their lawsuit against her husband.
"Plaintiffs believe that if their daughter could speak or otherwise communicate in a systematic fashion . . . her evidence would be devastating to the defendant," the motion said.
Those requests are part of the flurry of legal paperwork filed as the Schindlers and Michael Schiavo, continue to fight over whether Mrs. Schiavo would want to be kept alive after 11 years in a persistent vegetative state.
The Schindlers and Schiavo have accused each other of trying to control Mrs. Schiavo's fate to get $700,000 she received from a 1992 malpractice suit.
