Each of us uses just under 70 gallons of water indoors every day. Concern about water consumption increases as we head into the sixth month of below-average rainfall.

Here are helpful Web sites for information about saving water.

http://www.waterwiser.org. The site of the Water Efficiency Clearinghouse, part of the American Water Works Association. Water conservation tips for the home, residential water usage study, drip calculator, more.

http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us is the Web site of the Southwest Florida Water Management District (Swiftmud). Click on "water conservation" to find "50 Ways to Do Your Part," conservation tips, water and landscaping tips and xeriscaping information. Local watering restrictions are posted here.

http://www.tampabaywater.org. The site of the agency that provides wholesale water to Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties and the cities of Tampa, New Port Richey and St. Petersburg. Advice on conserving water inside and out; local watering restrictions.

http://www.terrylove.com/crtoilet.htm. A Seattle area plumber's site, with information about plumbing repairs and remodeling, recommendations on choosing low-flow toilets, FAQ about plumbing.

http://www.hometime.com. The Hometime television show's site, with plenty of how-to information on plumbing and other topics.

http://www.toiletology.com. Rude jokes, yes, but also serious advice on how to repair and clean toilets.

http://www.ceeformt.org. The Consortium for Energy Efficiency provides information on energy efficiency, offers appliance fact sheets and provides questions and answers.

http://www.energystar.gov. The Energy Star program, created by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, promotes the use of appliances and building techniques and materials that are certified to use at least 30 percent less energy than is standard.
