DEALING WITH TEENS: Catholic Charities is sponsoring a class for parents of teenagers from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today through July 9. The six-session video and discussion program will be held at St. Paul's Parish Center, 12708 N Dale Mabry Highway. It will help parents communicate with their teenagers and address drug and alcohol use, sexuality and violence. Barbara Kolar, a certified active parenting trainer, will lead the classes. FAMILY MEDIATION: The Mediation Institute at the University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave., will offer 40-hour family mediation workshops at various times June 14-16 and 21-23. The early registration fee is $875, due by today. The regular fee is $925. The state continuing professional education program is limited to people with law or accounting degrees or master's degrees and doctorates in the social or behavioral sciences. Others may enroll with permission of the instructor. Family mediation is used to resolve disputes that often arise during and after divorce. The program, approved by the Academy of Family Mediators, provides practical training and skills development. The workshop will be held at USF's Westside Conference Center. SaturdayHIGH-WIRE BICYCLE: A high-wire bicycle, a new permanent exhibit, will open today at the Museum of Science and Industry, 4801 E Fowler Ave. Guests can be harnessed into the bike and ride across a 98-foot cable suspended 30 feet above the Founder's Lobby. The bike is safe as it is counterweighted. The laws of physics make it impossible to fall off; however, a safety net is placed below the ride to set the rider's mind at ease.
