Summer food program to provide meals for kids

St. Petersburg Junior College is sponsoring the Summer Food Service Program for children from June 12 through July 25 at the St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus, 6605 Fifth Ave. N.

The program provides free balanced meals to needy children through age 16 participating in the National Youth Sports Program during summer vacation. The programs are approved for geographical areas where at least half of the children qualify for free or reduced priced meals during the school year.

Group offers guide to public officials

The 2001 "Pinellas County Citizen's Guide" is available through the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg area. These reference guides contain addresses, phone numbers and term expiration dates for elected and appointed state and local public officials. Pinellas County municipalities are listed with contact information.

To receive a copy, send a self addressed envelope to the league at P.O. Box 11775, St. Petersburg, FL 33733, or call the league office at (727) 896-5197 and leave your name and full address on their voice mail requesting a copy of the publication. The booklet may also be accessed through their website at www.ij.net/league.

Companies to recruit new employees at job fair

Looking for a new job? Entering the work force for the first time? The city of St. Petersburg Midtown Development and St. Petersburg Junior College will sponsor the "Feel the Heat" job fair from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Enoch Davis Center, 1111 18th Ave. S., St. Petersburg. More than 20 local companies currently recruiting new employees will be present to answer questions and give some on-site interviews. The college will offer representatives from their career development, corporate training and enrollment management centers. For more information, call 893-7894.
