The GFWC Palm Harbor Junior Woman's Club has awarded nine community organizations funds for special programs.

The club's contributions were made possible through its 1999 "A Taste of Palm Harbor" fundraiser. The following recipients each received a $1,000 grant:

Palm Harbor University High School Hurricane wrestling for special gymnasium lighting.

Downtown Palm Harbor Main Street Program for downtown beautification.

The Youth Out to Help organization for classroom programs.

The Humane Society of North Pinellas Inc. for its emergency medical care program.

North Pinellas Community Action Council/Palm Harbor Senior Activity Center for their project "Mouse and More."

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County for its Little Pal Activities program.

Florida Blood Services Foundation Inc. for its marrow donor program.

Palm Harbor Library for its Early Learning Corner.

Suncoast Children's Dream Fund for its Share the Dream program.

The Palm Harbor Juniors also chose Jennifer Stuart from among 40 applicants for the $1,000 Palm Harbor Senior Scholarship. Miss Stuart attends the Arts Magnet Program at Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg. She plans to major in elementary education at the University of Miami. Miss Stuart is a National Merit Semifinalist with an unweighted grade point average of 3.98.

She was a Hospice volunteer, a 12th-grade tutor and a volunteer in her church nursery. She also took mission trips each summer throughout high school.
