Karrie Webb had yet to make a birdie, and Se Ri Pak had once pulled within three strokes, so it wasn't a stroll to the Women's Open title. But Webb breathed easier after the par-4 seventh, where she made a birdie and Pak bogeyed. That stretched her four-stroke lead to six. Although Pak would get to within four again through 15 holes, it was too late.
"That was a huge turning point," Webb said. "I hit two good shots, hit a good putt, made my first birdie. That really settled me down a little bit."
"Anyone challenging me had to play aggressively in tough conditions. And when you play aggressively on a course like this, a lot of things can happen. I had the comfort of having a five-shot lead. I didn't have to do anything aggressive. I could just play for the greens and if a putt went in, it was a bonus." -- Webb
