Masked man holds up grocery store in Largo

LARGO -- A masked gunman escaped with an undisclosed amount of money after a midnight holdup Monday at Kash n' Karry at 13000 66th St. N. Police said the robber held several employees at gunpoint during the robbery, but no one was injured. No description was available.

Nursing home residents need volunteer advocates

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Councils in the Tampa Bay area are looking for volunteers to act as advocates for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Volunteers help investigate patient complaints and inspect facilities. Ombudsmen are asked to ensure that they are free from conflict of interest. Volunteers needed to be advocates for children

Guardian ad Litem is seeking volunteers to act as court-appointed advocates for abused or neglected children who are going through the legal system. Volunteers will research children's cases and make recommendations to the court on their behalf. The summer training session for volunteers begins at 6 p.m. today at the Criminal Justice Center, 14250 49th St. N, Clearwater. Call 464-6528 for information.
