MADDY DEMILT, 4, ENTERING PRESCHOOL: "Be good. To read. To play nicely."

BRIAN WILLIAMS, 6, ENTERING FIRST GRADE: "I want to read better and to learn to get along better with Brittany."

DAKOTA WINNIE, 5, HEADING INTO KINDERGARTEN: "Go to the outdoor center. We can write and you can bring home books from the library."
