Man, 18, charged with raping an acquaintance
SPRING HILL -- Police have arrested an 18-year-old Spring Hill man who they say raped an acquaintance on Friday.
Osvaldo W. Rosas, 18, of 1350 Tyler Ave., has been charged with one count of sexual battery.
Rosas asked the woman if she would go for a drive with him, according to a sheriff's report, and then pulled the car over about a block from her Spring Hill home.
Although she tried to fight him off, police reported, Rosas raped her.
Afterward, she went to the hospital and later told investigators she was raped, the report said.
Rosas was taken to the Hernando County Jail and released Wednesday on $1,000 bail.
Services set for children killed in rock truck crash
BROOKSVILLE -- Services for two children killed in a Monday night wreck will be held today at First Baptist Church of Brooksville.
Dylan Conley, 4, of Brooksville and his cousin, Ava Newmeyer, 7, of Georgia were passengers in a minivan struck by a rock truck at the intersection of Mondon Hill Road and State Road 50.
The joint funeral will begin at First Baptist Church of Brooksville, 420 Howell Ave., with viewing hours from noon to 2 p.m., followed by the service.
In lieu of flowers, relatives ask that donations be made to the Dylan Conley and Ava Newmeyer Fund. Contributions are accepted at any Bank of America branch. Relatives say the family has no medical insurance. The father, who supported his wife and four children with his window-tinting business, has taken time off work.
A Florida Highway Patrol investigation into the wreck is continuing. No charges have been filed.
