Paver plant wins zoning approvalBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published June 8, 2000 BROOKSVILLE -- Flagstone Pavers Inc., a Tampa-based company that makes decorative pavers, has won zoning approval to build a 22,500-square-foot production plant on Old Cobb Road. The firm next will seek needed permits from the Southwest Florida Water Management District and plans to be open for business by January, president Geoff Bond said. It intends to hire 14 people and ship all over Central Florida. Flagstone had considered setting up shop in Pasco County, Bond said, but preferred to do business in Hernando. Neighbors across Cobb Road opposed the rezoning, stating the land ownership was in question. County Attorney Garth Coller told commissioners that the ownership matter was irrelevant because no courts had told the county not to consider the rezoning. The commission supported the rezoning 4-1, with Commissioner Pat Novy opposed. © St. Petersburg Times. All rights reserved. |
